My Hummus Story
As far back as I can remember, hummus has been a part of my life. Growing up in Israel, I ate hummus on a daily basis and have been making it myself since I was a teen. When I was fifteen, I started working at a restaurant in a nearby town. It was there that I learned how to make hummus for the very first time.
Since then, I have built on and refined the recipe, making it a staple at every restaurant I worked at and earning multiple awards, including for "Best Hummus" in NYC three years in a row.
Now I want to share it with you so that you too can enjoy hummus the way I grew up eating it—homemade using the best ingredients
Ingredients
Each Hummus Kit comes with five main ingredients. In addition, you will need 1 large lemon and 4 tbsp of sparkling water.
Tahini
Made from finely ground Ethiopian sesame seeds, uniquely cold pressed to preserve the rare flavor and nutrients within, it imparts a silky smooth texture and authentic, earthy taste.
Tatbila
A savory, spicy herb mix infused with extra virgin olive oil that is traditionally served alongside hummus, ROOTS' Tatbila is hand blended from top-grade ingredients to yield the perfect balance of tang and zest.
Chickpeas
Thick, full garbanzo beans imported from Northern Spain, hand-peeled and wood-roasted until buttery tender, with no added preservatives or colorants, allowing the chickpeas' natural nutty flavor to shine through.
Grey Sea Salt
Soft and flaky salt crystals collected from the bottom of seawater ponds, giving them their unique color and slight mineral tang, they easily dissolve to enrich the hummus with a gentle briny flavor.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
100% extra virgin olive oil produced from the first cold pressing of hand-picked olives, bottled in its natural state with no additives or preservatives to bring an exceptionally fine texture and warm rustic flavor to the dish.
